I was thinking that the targets of "arrow" spells, such as flame arrow and acid arrow, should be able to deflect or snatch the arrows if they have the proper feats (Deflect arrows, Snatch arrows). If they succeed, I was considering that they could then take only 1/4 damage from the attack on a successful save. Snatched arrows in this manner instantly fade away into nothingness, so that the arrow cannpt be used later or thrown back at the caster, simce these arrows are spells.

Just an Idea, but what are your thoughts?

Well, flame arrows are still arrows, just on fire. Thus they are eligible for deflection. Some DMs may wish to rule that the weapon still inflicts d2 or d3 fire damage if deflected (or d6 if snatched).

In contrast, melf's acid arrow is a spell effect, and explicitly excluded from Deflect Arrow. Notice also that it only requires a ranged touch, not a normal ranged attack. If you wished to allow deflecting it, I'd apply at least 1d4, and probably full 2d4, acid damage, but no per-round effects.

This is where good ole epic feats are nice.
Reflect Arrows - Deflect any arrow, thrown weapon or spell that uses a ray or similar effect straight back at the caster ^_^.
What, you just tried to Disintegrate my Monk? Whats your Fort save against your own spell....

Agreeing with Nom.
If the spell makes an arrow (or enhances an arrow) it is still an arrow.
If the spell creates an energy form / pseudo arrow, it is not an arrow.
