| Serrith09-25-06, 08:39 AM | I am currently playing an Assassin, and I have just gained the ability to cast Arrowsplit. I believe that only the first arrow in the d4+1 group gains the sneak attack damage. My question, is, since I have a +1 flaming bow, do each of the arrows also get the +1 "to hit" and damage from the bow, and do they also get the additional d6 in fire damage? Is this covered in a rule book/errata? Thanks  |

All the arrows will get sneak attack damage, since each of them uses a separate attack roll. It is different from manyshot, where only 1 arrow benefits from precision based damage since all the arrows use the same attack roll value.:) My question, is, since I have a +1 flaming bow, do each of the arrows also get the +1 "to hit" and damage from the bow, and do they also get the additional d6 in fire damage? The split arrows retain the same enhancements as the original arrow. You cast arrowsplit on a +1flaming arrow, you get 1d4+1 +1flaming arrows.:) There is no clarification on this as far as I know, since I feel the spell desc is explicit enough.:) |
| tarkin09-25-06, 11:47 AM | That is incorrect. He was right the first time Arrowsplit does not multiply precision damage. The rule is not "one attack roll = one precision damage". Instead it is "One BAB = one precision damage." I.E. In order to get multiple precision damage, one must use another iterative attack. Rapid Shot, TWF, etc. all increase the number of precision attacks because all of them add an additional number in the list of bab. 6/1 -> 4/4/-1, so each of those get an attack. Arrow Split does not do this. It works in MID-FLIGHT, and as such, you only have time to direct a single arrow, that is the one that gets the precision damage. But all the arrows do in fact get the flaming damage etc. |
