First off, is it true that I cannot (due to errata) apply two metamagic feats to a spell trigger with two castings of metamagic item? (For this question assume that I have the rapid infusion feat an am using that to apply the second metamagic feat before the first spell runs out.) I was planning on using persistent and twin spell on the same wand (we will say a wand of bulls strength or some such), but if I cannot I need to rethink some things.

I really like the idea of buffing the whole party, but if the above does not work what are some good spells that effect the whole party? I have access to almost every book under the sun, and my DM is pretty liberal. I just cracked BoED and found elation, which seems like a really really good spell to have persisted.

ps: I know I could spend extra charges to get the above effect, but I am thinking about making eternal wands (from Spell Compendium) so that wouldnt really be viable. Also with eternal wands they party is basically eternaly buffed with the said spells.

You can't do it. Both metamagic items by itself would place the spell level outside the spell level capacity of wands. That is, wands can only hold a 4th level spell, and you have to add in the metamagic to the spell level when figuring if a spell meets a wands prerequisites. You also have to do it when calculating costs.

Sorry.

Right. The 3rd level artificer infusion, metamagic item, temporarily gives a spell trigger item the effect of a metamagic feat. But I am not sure if I can apply two, or more, metamagic feats to a spell trigger item with it.

So can I have more then one metamagic feat applied to a wand as an artificer?

I think you are misleading the OP. Nowhere in the description of the metamagic item infusion mentions or implies what you have explained. This isn't like crafting the wand. In fact the infusion description in ECS has the specific example of empowering a fireball wand (3+2). That would immediately "place the spell level outside the spell level capacity of wands" if what you said is true.

To address the OP's question, you can't stack 2 metamagics with the same infusion. Infusions follow the same conventions for spells and so with 2 applications of the same spell/infusion, the latest will take effect.
