artificers get a line of spells that add a +1 to +5 enhancement to a weapon so you can add flaming or shocking or whatever.

2 questions both assuming I have a +1 flaming longsword as the base weapon using only the +1 enhancement version of the spell.

1: can I add flaming again to it so it would do 1d8+1d6+1d6?

2: if I can't add flaming a second time because it's already there would I be able to make it a +1 flaming keen longsword?

and one last question, is there anywhere any errata is listed?

thanks for any help with this question :)

The question of adding an ability again has been debated before. I lean on the side of not being able to have a double flaming weapon, but others say there's nothing against it.

As for adding a second ability with an infusion, that's what they're there for. Our ninja just recently had, thanks to my infusions (and lots of hard work beforehand) a +5 cold iron holy fey-bane short sword of shock. Nice against the evil fey we were fighting.

Errata can be found on the main D&D homepage under Game Rules.

so if I can use an infusion to add a +1 ability to something that already has it could I take my +1 flaming longsword and make it a...

+1 flaming, shocking, frost, keen, ghost touch, earthbound longsord?

for a total of 5 infusions pumping it up from the base?

I would think this would go against the same spell/power affecting it, but each one is different so I'm not sure.

Thanks for the response and any additional info :)

I would allow it. My DM has, although I've never tried too hard to put that many on one weapon. I end up sharing them around the party, spending them on armor enhancements as well, etc. Keep in mind, it never says that it has to even be a magical weapon in the first place. You could take the quarterstaff you just cut from a tree and make it a quarterstaff of clouting, even without a +1 bonus on it.
