It doesn't specify component or focus. So the question is, do the bones get destroyed when used or just the arcane writing on them? 2- Can a Dragon Shaman declare an opponent as an ally (ie: use fast healing on a group of commoners who are attacking him, so they <probably> won't die)? |
| Dead_Weasel10-31-07, 10:37 PM | In addition to its normal spell components, a Moilian spell requires the creation and expenditure of a Moilian runebone.1)The bones are one-use each; whether or not they survive the spell and/or can be re-prepared is up to you, but every d6 of damage costs 25 gp. 2) Technically the mob are his enemies, but I do not see a reason why the shaman could not choose to extend the benefit of the aura to them. Remember that the fast healing from the aura only takes effect when the subject is at less than 1/2 hp. |

The bones "cannot" be used again, but I see no reason why a caster using (honored ancestor's bones) or whatever could not use them again; he would still have to pay the gp cost to make them spellbones again though. I honestly do not see what you are confused about - the DM decides what happens to the bones, which only really matters for RP reasons. |
| Max Octavious Xavier11-02-07, 09:32 PM | I'm not confused, I just want to see how other dm's rule on this issue. The difference is almost none in the game mechanic sense, but a great deal in the roleplaying sense. If the bones get destroyed when used, the character has to become a grave robber/corpse defiler. But if they can be reused, then they only have to get 1 set (until destroyed/lost in other ways). With no RAW, I would like to say "well, most folks on the forums think (whatever). |
