Hi everyone. I'v been scratching my head over the Astal Projection spell. On my reading, this spell would allow a PC to enter the Astral Plane and virtually emerge anywhere in the universe?! This seems far too powerful.

And, when the PC's astral form emerges on a Prime Plane, is that body phyisical and visible, or is it like a ghost, able to observe but not touch anything?

As I understood it, you materialize in any other plane (I don't know about pinpointing the area), and the silvery cord is still attached to your soul and your original body.

After you materialize, you are safe. If this new body dies or the cord is cut, your soul returns to your original body.

But while on the Astral Plane, you are in danger from someone cutting the cord.

Yes... There should be a deeper explanation of what the Astral Plane is.

I can see why you would be cocnerned about the power level of the spell, but I think the fact that it is a 9th-level spell excuses any imbalance in about 9 out of 10 cases. :)

Common sense is the balancer for Astral Project. There are some places you can go that you wont be welcomed, rejected, and then have people on another plane that do not like you at all. Overall the point is, just because you can do something, does not mean their are no consequences.
