| Sorxores10-15-03, 09:58 AM | I know I seen a thread telling that Astral projection was the most powerfull spell, but I cannot find it back. could someone give me the detail why it is the most powerfull spell or at least link me the the thread? thank |
| Da Elf10-15-03, 10:01 AM | Well, I don't know the specifics of the spell, but from what I've heard, it (more or less) allows you to become immortal, as well as duplicate major artifacts. :looloo: :looloo: :looloo: Then again, I don't know how powerful it could be... |
| Will Brandiman10-15-03, 10:08 AM | Because it allows the creation of an exact duplicate of the caster and any other subjects, including their equipment. Some people seem to have taken this to mean that they can just cast this spell as many times as possible, take the duplicated equipment away and sell it, give it to their friends etc. As far as anyone with at least a small degree of common sense is concerned however, this is clearly the biggest load of dingoe's kidneys in the history of gaming. Yes the spell might allow it in a strict interpretation of the wording but was that the intention? Does anyone actually think that this is what was meant by the authors when they were writing this spell? Does anyone actually know of a DM stupid enough to allow this in his/her game? |
| L33t Angel10-15-03, 10:26 AM | Most people would logically assume that the items would dissipate upon the spell's cessation, but this doesn't fix everything.... What about Retributive Striking? Astral project, Retributive Strike, come back, Staff's still in one piece. I seem to remember a note in Manual of the Planes that mentioned that all disposable items used while in Astral form were used up in Material form, but I don't have my Manual of the Planes so I have no idea if my memory is serving me well, here. |

| Xavim10-16-03, 01:36 AM | Immortal, heh. I believe I saw a spell once called snare Astral Travelor or some such. What it did was transport the astral creature's REAL self to the location of the caster. Bye Bye immortality. Might have been the BoVD, or the Savage Species. |
| Solmyr10-16-03, 03:19 AM | IMC I would rule that anything that spends your items' energy (charges, retributive strike, whatever) also spends the energy of the original items in the same way, since astral item copies can be regarded as connected to their originals in much the same way as the astral body is connected to the original. So any charges you spend from wands, etc, are also spent from the originals, except that no effects materialize on the Prime Material. Although if someone tried to abuse a retributive strike, I might just rule that the original staff breaks and explodes too. :smirk: |
| the_heart10-16-03, 11:08 AM | hehe, did people really interpret it like that  must search that link out........blast just remembered CoC means i don't get to mock :nonono: Solmyr you're interpretation is exactly how i remember it being worded. |
| Kronk LaSworda10-16-03, 11:35 AM | Magic Missle is the most powerful spell. It never misses, duh. :) |
