| Boldtalon12-12-04, 06:39 PM | i want to make a longsword whicih will be use by my offspring and the generations to come... since i'm playing a 2nd generation adventuress(cleric whose father was a paladin) whose own children(son- fighter, daughter- ranger) is on verge of adventuring i think it would be kinda cool to make such an item... unfortunately none of the core books describe making such an item + if the item is restricted just to my family do i get 20% off the item creation cost? |

You could base the Item off of the Legendary weapons as presented in the Unearthed Arcanna or the Ancestral Daisho similer to the Samurai as in the OA but instead there is a preset order to the progression of enhancements which the ancester can't choose. also I would devide the XP cost in half and add a little back on to account for requireing the descendents to spend XP to attune the Item. Actually I would probably make it cost more then this but to use this as a starting point, and adjust until you get something that seems fair and reasonable. You might want to consider a feat that allows the descendent to activate the Magical enhancements, one at a time. say three or four feats. the 1 feat makes the weapon +1. the second feat makes the Weapon +2 and allows the User to choose a +1 enhancement Bonus. the 3 feat makes the Weapon +3 and adds a second +1 enhancement Bonus or improves the Existing Enhancement bonus say Flaming to Flaming Burst. the last feat makes the Weapon +4 and adds a single +2 Enhancement Bonus. soem might say that a 4 feats for an effectively +8 Weapon a bit stiff, but then they didn't have to pay for it, so ... this is something that I have been toying with so I am interested in seeing how this turns out for you. |
