Do feats like Augment Helaing or Augment Summoning apply to spells cast of spell completion items (i.e wands/scrolls)? I would think they do (as they are not metamagic feats but more like, say weapon focus). (By the same reasoning, for example, does Warmage's edge apply to spells off scrolls or wands?)

According to the feats as written, they apply to any spell you cast. The precise terminology is "...any Conjuration [Healing] spell that you cast" and "Each creature you conjure with any summon spell..." Since you are considered the "caster" of spells you cast using spell completion items, then spells you cast from scrolls, wands, and staves would be affected by your Augment Healing and Augment Summoning feats.

According to the specific description of the Warmage Edge ability (Complete Arcane 14), a Warmage does not gain the benefit of the ability when casting a warmage spell from a scroll or a wand, but he does gain the benefit when casting warmage spells from staves.

Wands use their own caster level. Doesn't sound like the user is casting the spell. The wand is.

On the other hand, staves, which get the caster level of the user, would work with augment healing.

Does that, by extension, mean that no feats which apply to spellcasting (i.e spell focus or spell penetration) apply to spells cast from spell triggr items (staffs excepting)?

To clarify:

Feats you have do not affect spells you trigger, complete, or activate unless they specifically state they do.

I can accept that....but what if you're the one who crafted the scroll or wand? Augmented spells can clearly be placed into both of those items. Is there no way for me to prepare a scroll of cure critical wounds so that it benefits from my Augment Healing spell?

Discuss. :)

The DM of the current game this question came up in said that you could probably purchase items with feats (etc) applied, but they would be more expensive.

I imagine that the procedure for making them yourself would be no different to creating them normally, except you'd add the benefit (just like creating scrolls/wnds etc at higher caster levels).
