Ok, I am missing this somewhere.

What aura does a +1 longsword radiate? +1 chainmail?

Where is this written?

Every magic item includes the strength and school of an item's magic aura (Moderate Evocation, Strong Divination, etc.) in the item's description.

In the case of straight enhancement bonuses, the CL is three times the bonus. That will determine the aura strength.

Weapons are inherently Evocation, armor is inherently Abjuration

This means the auras for a +1 longsword and +1 chainmail would be Faint Evocation and Faint Abjuration respectively.

Armor and other protective bits are Abjuration
Weapons are Evocation
Stat bonuses are Transmutation

DMG page 213, first paragraph.
