If the animal has gained HD, STR, DEX Etc. from the druid being higher level, do all the adjustments go away, and it reverts to a normal animal of its kind, or does it retain any or all of the increases. I would assume the same would happen if you releases your animal companion, whatever the outcome is. What is your opinion? |

So it instantly ceases to be an animal companion, loses all the benefits it used to have, and goes on it's merry way. It probably will still be friendly to you, but it is now an NPC. |

| Wolf7208-19-05, 07:17 PM | that's a good discussion between the DM and player ... I could see letting the critter stay on with the increases, but the player has to take the leadership feat as well (doesn't necessarily need to take the other followers) |
| Rickiel08-21-05, 11:23 PM | actually, this has happened in a game I played in. Our party's druid had another druid awaken his wolf. The wolf gained HD as the druid went up in level as normal, and became a great asset to the party as a companion. When the druid became lvl 6, he got Leadership, the DM ruled that the druid already has a cohort via Animal Companion. Leadership. It solved the problem. As for the followers.....they were gained alright... But trust me, you don't want me to stat out the DWOLFS! |
