:b: Awaken Construct is a 9lvl spell with a 5000xp cost. It says it awakens a construct to humanlike sentience.

Exactly what does that mean? It doesn't list any game mechanics to use when determining the affect of the spell.

Constructs have a wisdom score, so does it give average Intel of 10. Maybe the minimum of 3.

Would you allow a random roll 4d6 drop the lowest?

For those that don't know the spell is in savage species pg#63.

Thanks

3d6 is what you'd roll, traditionally--4d6, drop the lowest is for above average people.

I imagine it would give them the awakened construct template, which can be found in Savage Species, IIRC.

:b: I would certainly hope that it don't. You lose all special abilities. Lower Hit die, so you need at least a 14 con not to lose to many HPs. Your basicaly a first lvl fighter with a lot of HPs.

What I would like is either a random roll or a straight 10 to Intel.

Does anyone have a better idea?

Incarnate Construct is what grants the template. The template is very nice because it stops a homunculus from dying instantly. You lose all special abilities, and has a level adjustment of -2 (the only way you can ever have more hit dice than your ECL).

If you check Appendix 2, it indicates that you should roll 4d6 and drop the lowest to determine the Intelligence for an Awakened or Incarnate construct, but an Awakened construct retains its lack of Constitution (roll as above for an Incarnate).
