Lanoitakude 09-20-04, 08:59 PM	Because the magic of the Awaken spell grants the animal (or tree) the power to speak. The difference between Awaken and Wild Shape? Awaken is a 5th level Druid spell, Wild Shape is a Druid class feature. Awaken grants an animal or tree human-like sentience and the ability to speak. Wild Shape changes a Druid's form to that of an animal. I hope this answers your question.
