| DemonMonkeyBoy11-12-04, 05:15 AM | :b: if you list class lvl, stats and domains it will help to answer you. Can you be more specific, maybe one or two question to start? In general what I do is select spells to buff the group at low lvls. Check out bless and divine favor. If I plan on being in heavy melee combat then I take more damaging spells. Like inflict light wounds. The only other good suggestion is to read over, more than once, each spell you can cast and the magic section in the PHB. You could also try mock battles to see how it works before adding it to your adding it to your spell list. |
| Heron_Marked_Blade11-12-04, 02:44 PM | so then i picked to be a cleric but i cant get my head around how you pick and use the magic and spells :confused:Read pages 30-33 in the Player's Handbook. It describes how Clerics pick spells and use magic. Another useful section is from page 169-177, and particularly pages 179-180. Then if you have any specific questions, post them here. |
| KP9111-12-04, 04:18 PM | I took me a while to understand it too but I don't really don't like to play them so I barely read through it. You choose the spells you want every day. You can choose any spell from the list that doesn't have a descriptor (little words in parenthasese near title of spell) against your alignment. Good can't use evil spells Chaotic cant use Law and vise versa. They also get a domain spell. You choose a spell from domains you choose at first level. Read your god's description to find out their domains that you can get. good cleric- evil cleric- :schemes: |
| tarkin11-12-04, 05:23 PM | First of all there are major disadvantages to playing the Rogue/Sorcorer. A bard itself is in many ways far superior to them. But a major part of the bard is the musical abilities. If you are not going to use them, then yes the Rogue/Sorceror starts looking better. Keep in mind that a 10/10 Rogue/Sorcer will learn 1 Fifth level spell, while a bard will learn 5 5th level spells and 4 6th level spells. Yes, he won't learn the fireball type, but he gets the healing spells. The question you should be askin yourself is what kind of things do you want your PC to do. Describe what you want to do, and we can point you towards a build you might like. All the classes have their advantages - but a lot of people think Barbarians, Clerics, and Wizards have a slight edge on the other classes. |
