It also says that for a contious or unlimited duration detremine the cost of the item as if the item had 100 charges. What order do you the math in? I don't have the DM's guide on me so those aren't direct quotes |

Then decide if it can be be described as a generic effect driven boost, and if not then consider the chart for continous spell effects as last resort. Here is a list of all of the guidelines from an online SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm) That site is the best organized of any of the SRD versions I've found on the web. If you give a specific example of what you're trying to build (or what your player wants to build) and we can walk you through the process we would follow to price it. Keep in mind that the extensive charts and tables aren't perfectly balanced (their math for multi effect items vs their price for slotless items is a prime example of holes in the existing system). |

But as others said, the proper procedure for continuous items is: 1) Look at similar magic items. 2) Look for set formulas (weapons, armor, skills, stats, etc.) 3) Then use the spell level x caster level x whatever method. Note, Continuous Healing is always priced based on Ring of Regeneration. |
