A while ago, the issue of whether wraithstrike was overpowered or not was brought up, & it seemed that most people here (myself included) concluded that wraithstrike leans a bit towards the overpowered side, especially when used with power attack & the like. some people simply suggested that they would houserule the spell so that it wouldn't work in conjunction with power attack.

however, just judging by RAW, can touch attacks be affected by feats like power attack in the first place? I just want to know, WITHOUT the use of ANY houserules, is there anything in the rules regarding the prohibition of those two things being used together?

I havent seen anything specifically forbidding it. The closest I've seen is the text of flame blade, which wont let you add your str bonus because it is immaterial.

Considering Deep Impact/Unavoidable Strike allows you to resolve a melee attack with (wpn) as a touch attack, you still get your Str bonus and anything behind that swing, i.e. power attack etc.

...yes, some spells and powers can/tend to be overpowered to in conjunction with other abilities incredible.

Thinking all the power attack feats that continue to bump your PA damage result could be delivered as a touch attack seems pretty mighty. Some PrC's were put on the restricted list in our game due to the overall power output would unbalance the game and simply make it not as fun for everyone. Frenized Berserker being a prime example.

To each his own, and in the end your DM has the final say.

Good point. I forgot about deep impact. But then, you can only get off deep impact once per round, and even then you will need several other feats (including psionic meditation) to pull it off with any regularity.
