Bag of Holding + Wildshape question? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Here's a weird one for ya all (or maybe not, it has probably come up sometime before!)

A living creature can survive for 10 minutes in a bag of holding.
Equipment not used melds into your new shape when wildshaping.

What happens if a reduced/shrunken living creature is placed in a bag of holding and then the druid wildshapes??
(say to something that flies, so as to reach a place unaccessible otherwise)

I can't find anything that says this (weird!!) action is mechanically impossible (unless missing it somewhere)

Thanks!

Nothing to stop this from working. note that, oddly, the different sizes of bag and the size/type of creature contained in the bag apparently don't matter. So a fly would suffocate in the type IV bag after 10 minutes, just like a human would suffocate after 10 minutes in a type I bag.

Yea, Fleem, according to the RAW, you're right - there is no consideration for that - weird.... lol, interesting observation

Here is a better question.

OK.

My Druid takes hold of his bag of holding.

Then he Wildshapes to say a monkey.

The monkey then climbs into a Portable hole.

Do we have a Rift to the Astral Plane?

yes or no?

I vote no.

Well, if the bag of holding's "nonfunctional" on your form, I vote no as well.

Now, if it were also inside an antimagic field, well...

Inside an AMF field neither the bag nor the portable hole are functional.

P.S. That reminds me of an old joke.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.

Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read.
