HI, Im sorry to post with this subject, but I only have a quick question and the search engine didn't find what I was looking for.

If one pf my Pc sorcerer was polymoprh into a toad (failed his fort but got his Will save).. can he still cast spells?

I know that in 3.0, you needed to be able to speak and gesture?

thanks for your help!

If he had the still and silent metamagic feats and/or a spell that didn't have ether of those and no material components (those would have been polymorphed with him)

Presumably you could use material components if you could get your hands -- er, feet? -- on them.

If you expect this to go on for very long (though I can't imagine why it would), you might see if the DM would allow you to take a feat similar to Natural Spell. I'd probably allow something like this as long as it only replaced verbal components, since arcane somatics tend to be complex, while druid somatics are simple gestures anyway. On the other hand, only replacing verbal seems weak for a feat, so I'd have to consider how to handle that. Possibly I'd grant some sort of modification like additionally allowing you to speak (though in a croaky frog-voice). That seems pretty balanced -- you can croak your verbal components and verbally communicate, if with some difficulty.

Of course, since the duration of Balful Polymorph is permanent, you could simply have an NPC cast Dispel Magic on the subject' or maybe have the frog caster get a scroll of Dispel magic to remove the spell.

Well, at least that wizard didn't have feeblemind cast on him/her. :)
