| smitipogra11-05-06, 10:47 PM | Alright, I'll make this quick as it's killing me as we speak: I have a changeling who has failed the fort save on Baleful Polymorph. My question is simple, since he has the shapechanger subtype can he change back? Thanks! Timmay! PS-The next person I meet that casts this spell will be murdered in a slow and painful fashion. Baleful Polymorph sucks! |
| Karak_Nechot11-05-06, 10:58 PM | Yes. According to the spell, you can change back as a standard action, thanks to your doppleganger heritage as a changling. |

Baleful Polymorph sucks! Only if it's cast on you or your allies. If someone in your party casts it on a foe, then it's quite the handy spell. Chuck |
| Teron Gorefiend11-05-06, 11:11 PM | You can definitely do it if you made the save to retain your mental faculties. If not, I'd personally rule that since having the intelligence of a sheep doesn't take away your memories, you'd still know something's not right and how to change back, but that's more debatable. |
| Karak_Nechot11-05-06, 11:51 PM | Well, considering you have 24 hours before you have to make the save to keep your mental faculties, and it takes less than 6 seconds to change back, I think that's kind of a non-issue. |

Huh. It seems the spell's changed quite a bit since I last looked at it. It appears the change in mental stats is automatic now, so what I said still applies. If you fail the second save 24 hours later, you lose your memories and definitely can't change back if you haven't yet. |
| Vegepygmy11-06-06, 03:07 AM | The really bizarre thing is that, according to the errata, your Intelligence changes to that of the new form, yet you retain the ability to understand any languages you understood in your original form...so while you're probably too stupid to think of reverting back to your natural form on your own, if someone else tells you to do it, you'll be fine. Stupid errata. |
| Pennyforth11-06-06, 07:24 AM | Enlighten me--wherefor might I find this errata? Chuck |
