Well at least I think it's this spell.

ANYWAYS... I find that in some cases this spell is underpowered when... compared to itself. The table for damage is as follows.

One Ball 4d6
Two Balls 3d6
Three Balls 2d6
Four Balls 1d6

The reason for me saying this is a simplistic one. If you use the spell and get two or three balls you can do 6d6 damage. On the other hand if you get one or four balls you can do 4d6 damage. Comments anyone?

Ball Lightning is a textbook example of overcorrecting. Go find the original version of the spell (I believe it was in Magic of Faerun?), and be amazed at how effective it USED to be.

For another example, watch the amusement as WoTC tries to fix Polymorph...

Man...what level is that spell, 3rd? Hmm, might be useful for one or two levels then...maybe.

In the spell compendium it's a 5th level spell similar to flaming sphere but deals 1d6/level (max 15d6).

Up to 15d6 per round for a move action is decent in my opinion.
