| marshallq11-29-03, 04:04 AM | What items should a bard of 8th level buy with around 30/40k on gold to spend? She's into archery so a nice bow would be cool and maybe an armor with a very low arcane spell failure.... Any ideas on further magic items? She's already getting an amulet of +2 cha. and gloves of +2 dex. Str is on 10 so a mighty bow = no go |
| BlaineTog11-29-03, 04:12 AM | 3e or 3.5? |

| BlaineTog11-29-03, 04:47 AM | Bows: -Of speed. Basically, you get an extra shot for free. 32k. -FlamingFrostShock bow. Basically, and extra 3d6 damage per shot (adjust depending on target). Also 32k. -Or the good 'ol +4 Bow, which is pretty much self explanatory. 32k. Armors (remember that Bards don't have any Arcane Spell Failure in 3.5 for light armor): -37,250 will get you a +6 Mithral Chain Shirt, which gives you a +10 to AC. Very cool. -Or you could go with a Mithral Chain Spell Resistence (19), which is great agaisnt casters. Or SR (13) and "Invulerability" which gives you DR 5/magic. Check out the SRD. It has mapes and pages of info about magic armor & weapons. |
| marshallq11-29-03, 05:01 AM | Thanks for your help, is was thinking of: - Bow of Shock + Frost: 8100 Gp. - Mithral Chainskirt +3: 10100 Gp. +7 Ac / Max. Dex. 7 / ASF 10% (Doesn't bother bard as you said) - Amulet of +2 Cha. / Gloves of +2 Dex.: 8000 Gp. - Handy Haversack: 2000 Gp. - Efficient Quiver: 1800 Gp. - Wand Cure Light (50 charges): 750 Gp. Total: 30750 |
| primemover00311-29-03, 05:22 AM | Blaine you do realize you can't go above a +5 enhancement bonus on Armor, right? Originally posted by Blaine Tog: 37,250 will get you a +6 Mithral Chain Shirt, which gives you a +10 to AC. Very cool. |
| quaiven11-29-03, 08:33 AM | I think he was adding in a special power. Marshallq, 8100 gp seems a little cheap for a bow with two special powers, it should be around 16400. (Remember the bow must be masterwork +300 gp, and it must have a +1 enhancement bonus before it can have special powers +2000 gp) Same with the Mithral Chain Shirt +3 |
| primemover00311-29-03, 08:49 AM | Only if that special power was a +1 enhancement bonus. Notice the "+10 to AC" section. Chain shirt +4 and +6 enhancement = +10, which of course is a no go (non-ridiculous... er Epic levels). |
| quaiven11-29-03, 09:07 AM | True, true |
