Searched Spell forum and cannot find anything about this.

Can the Bard's Improvisation dice pool be used for helping overcome SR and would it stack with something like Assay Resistance?

thanks

What's the "Bard's Improvisation dice pool"? Never heard about it.

It's the pool of points a Bard gets from casting the 5th lvl spell Improvisation

i.e. 15th lvl Bard would get a pool of 30 points to 'spend' on rolls (max +10 points per roll I think).

The rules in Complete Adventurer state the pool of points can be used for attack, skill and ability checks. Question arises is an offensive spell like Great Shout (or similar) and attacking action or is a roll to overcome a type of ability check?

You can't increase your chances of overcoming SR with the spell, since that is a caster level check - as you pointed out, these bonuses can only be applied to attack rolls, skill checks and ability checks.

The spell states that you can provide bonuses to attack rolls. There is no such thing involved with Greater Shout.

Cool, thanks for that, it is a pity though ;)

My PC will have to concentrate in raising his caster level, bring on the CR!
