| ChaosPhoenix01-11-05, 04:30 AM | My favorite munchkin is driving me crazy with his "I got a house in the city and war is the only right thing in the world" druid. In the next adventure he'll be a little bit educated ^^. My question is "do bark skin and stone skin stack?" If there is no rule against it, I'll make one, but I would like to slap him with the players handbook ^^ |
| Gil Gwath01-11-05, 04:42 AM | barkskin is an enhancement bonus to NA. stoneskin provide DR. they are different and they work togheter in other words: barkskin makes you more difficult to be hit stoneskin help you when you are hit they work well togheter |
| ChaosPhoenix01-11-05, 04:49 AM | hmm but your skin can't be stone and bark together.. not logically at least. Or am I wrong? I was player not dm last time. I think he used both skins as AC bonus. When I play I'm not concerned with this. Wasn't stone skin ac bonus in 3.0? |
| Neverborn01-11-05, 05:05 AM | Nope, in 3.0 Stoneskin also give Damage Reduction, NO AC bonus! By the rules there is no problem with having both spells affect someone, but i can see how it would seem weird... |

It can be dispelled, a very regular use of stoneskin can by scryed upon, adamantine does bypass the stoneskin DR. Elemental damage ignores both (Barkskin and Stoneskin). Don't your evil guys at least use half of the tactics of your PCs? |

The rules specify what kinds of magical effects stack and which ones don't, and nothing in them prevents Stoneskin and Barkskin from stacking. |
| cwslyclgh01-11-05, 12:26 PM | hmm but your skin can't be stone and bark together.. not logically at least. Or am I wrong? you are reading to much into the spell names, neither of the spells actually change your skin to anything else. Barkskin says only that it "toughens the skin..." Stoneskin doesn't mention any changes at all, it simply makes the reciepient more resistant to physical attacks. |
| cwslyclgh01-11-05, 12:31 PM | if you want him to use stoneskin less I suggest enforcing the matieral component if you do not already... I find my players are less willing to use stone skin when they find out that they are loosing 250 gp a pop. Also if a local thieves guild learns that he has been buying up large amounts of diamond dust, then he could be a prime target for thier activities. My favorite munchkin is driving me crazy with his "I got a house in the city and war is the only right thing in the world" druid. as for this simply stop granting him spells, until he spends some time "getting back to nature." |
| BW022201-11-05, 06:49 PM | I'll second cwslyclgh post. Track the use of the powered diamond. Track the number of times he purchases and exactly how much he has on him. Don't allow spontaneous conversion of gold into diamond dust either. As for living in the city, remember druids belong to orders. They have superiors, gods, etc. which they answer to. Have a senior druid, some forest dwelers, etc. come into the city and take the guy to task. Give him a forest to look after. And of course, his animal companion takes a permanent hike. Also look at components. |
| ChaosPhoenix01-12-05, 10:42 AM | I am not the strict roleplayer myself, but he only playes and combines classes for getting the max out of it. he first wanted to play a monk druid so he could combine the support spells with the wisdom bonus and the shapeshift form. since he lives in a city (sharn in eberron) and repeatedly kills 2-4 trees per day to make something useless with "woodshape", I'll try to use that against him. I never used stoneskin so i didn't know about the dr, but what I know that he counted it as ac bonus. I'll watch that, when I' dm'ing myself. Another point is, that he stole a treasure (a lot of gold) and since he is so greedy he keeps everything in his home ;) I'm just a little bit angry about him driving every group in which he is crazy. We got very good chars with high attributes from the beginning, and we're still trying to play our chars. Regarding to the spells.. I was pretty confused and didn't look he facts up. Since most d&d games (the only thing where you can actually "see" characters working) actually show a character with stone-skin-graphic, I thought it changes your skin to stone. Regarding to the character.. since he leaves the way of the druids, he'll get warned by his god and loose some of his powers I think. |
