| rbrt_Spade07-01-05, 02:00 PM | what books do you own for spells? for ph i would just use attack spells like fireball, chain lighting etc. and spells that protect you- if you have no shield spells-your sorcerer dead also dispel magic-every spellcaster needs it! for good arcane build help-get tome & blood-plus more spells and p. classes |

What would be the most optimal spell-list for a Battle Sorcerer build. Unless there is a character class in one of the splat books that I am not familiar with, the only Battle Sorcerer I know if is a varient of the sorcerer core class that is listed in Unearthed Arcana. It uses the exact same spell list and progression that a normal sorcerer does, but receives one less spell slot per spell level, and in exchange receives a d8 for HP, and the bard ability to wear light armor with no arcane spell failure. |

I think they also lose a spell known per level, but I could be mistaken. I only remember reading it in a bookstore. |
| cowdragon07-02-05, 02:33 AM | they lose one spell known per spell level, and lose one spell slot per day per spell level. But they gain D8 hit points, ability to cast in light armour, and proficiency with one light or one handed marshal weapon. A good spell list for a battle sorcerer is even more important than for a regualr sorcerer. But the spells they have access to is identical. 0) Read magic, Detect Magic, Daze, Prestidigitation, Mage Hand, Open/Close, Acid Splash, Disrupt Undead 1) Identify, Comprehend Languages, Alarm, Sheild 2) False Life, Mirror Image, Scorching Ray, Glitterdust 3) Vampiric Touch, Daylight, Fly 4) Shadow Conjuration, Rainbow Pattern, Enervation 5) Shadow Evocation, Break Enchantment, Teleport 6) Dispel Magic Greater, True Seeing, Globe of Invulnerability 7) Plane Shift, Limited Wish 8) Shadow Evocation Greater, Maze 9) Wish, Shades Trade your lower shadow spells for Scrying(4th), and Major Creation I don't know, that looks like a pretty good list to me. The higher level ones you may want to relook at though, I usually don't get spells higher than 6th level and after that they all look cool. The Cowdragon :mage: |
| Jack of All Trades07-03-05, 02:05 AM | Thanks for the list. Its pretty good. Sorry I couldn't respond sooner. |
| Kurama Youko07-03-05, 07:22 AM | Every Battle Sorcerer will have a different spell-list and there isnt such a thing as the most optimized one only the most accustom to your style of play. If you like melee combat with your battle sorcerer you probably wont be sitting back and blasting with rays all day, with that said. I think it best to just ask for a couple of example battle sorcerer spell-list and pick spells you like from whatever examples you think best fit your play style. |
