A situation recently came up that has created some questions about the Black Blade of Disaster (SC). Will a BBoD affect Fog, Obscuring Mist, etc. ?

Will a BBoD affect a vampire that has turned into mist?

Will a BBoD affect water? Will sticking it in a lake disintegrate 1000 cubic feet of water each round?

My opinions are currently: no on the first two, and yes on the last.

- No. The BBoD only attacks creatures.
- Of course it does. Even a thrown rock can still affect a creature under gaseous form (if thrown hard enough), so why on earth would BBoD suffer any effect?
- Well, firstly, you can't "stick it into a lake", because you don't hold it and it will only attack creatures. However, if it goes into water to attack a creature or if you allow better control of the BBoD, there are two possible answers:
By RAW, no it doesn't because it allows a Fortitude save and objects are immune the things like that unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Realistically, though, it's a rift in space, so I'd allow it to disintegrate water as if there's a sword-sized drain in the lake.
