| gninja07-21-05, 02:59 PM | What's the point of this spell? It'd be kinda nice if you could actually cast it at first level. But if you read all the text you see the other requirements: 25 xp - no big deal 1 week prep time - again, no biggie Character level 7 - Annoying, but removes the insta-death if your bogun dies. Should - Probably have been listed as caster level 7? Craft Wonderous feat. - Odd. why not just make the bogun a wonderous item, usable only by - the creator, if it's going to take an item creation feat? Caster must also cast Control Plants and Wood Shape. - Can be cast from a scroll. But, still, Control plants is an 8th level spell. - There's no getting around the high chance of failure if you try and do this - at, say, 7th level... Caster (or hired help) must succeed at DC 12 Basketweaving check. - What the ****? All this for an 11hp construct that causes you 2d10hp in damage if it dies, and has a 5% chance of disobeying you. Someone, please, tell me what is the purpose of this spell? |

| gninja07-21-05, 06:06 PM | 1. Where did you find this? 2. I take we can count you among the "not a fan of this spell" crowd? Sorry, 1. Complete Divine, pg 152 2. Not as written. It would be reasonably neat if you could cast it at 1st, or even 3rd level... And not have it be a potential death threat flying around. |

Though I tend to agree that the required level is a bit high, I still don't think it should be available at first level. Maybe 3rd: the same time you can take CWI. Control plants is an 8th level spell. The spell was copied from Masters of the Wild, which is 3.0. In 3.5, they switched the names of the spells Control Plants and Command Plants. That the required spell in Complete Divine is not Command Plants (a 4th level spell) is almost certainly an error. Caster (or hired help) must succeed at DC 12 Basketweaving check. *shrug* I guess the idea is that you're stitching together the bogun from various plant materials. |
