| Tyron05-27-04, 11:29 AM | What in your opinion is the best level 8 spell? |
| Arundl05-27-04, 11:49 AM | Mind Blank. Makes you immune to Mind-Affecting effects and blocks infomation gathering divination spells. Lasts 24 hours. Awesome spell. |
| Seeker9505-27-04, 12:11 PM | The same as the best class, best race, best 4th level spell, best feat, best skill, best weapon and best magic item... Whichever one that works in the situation you are in. Mind blank may be a decent spell, but it is completely useless if you are taking on an iron golem or a poison needle trap. |
| tarkin05-27-04, 12:55 PM | Maze is better then Mind Blank. No save. No SR. Use it on Demons, Dragons, anyone. It totally screws with the bad guy's plans. Facing two powerfull enemies? Maze one, kill the other, then kill the returnee. Facing one intelligent enemy? Maze him, power up with spells, then kill him. Facing a wizard *** familar? Maze him, kill his familiar, then take him on in his uphappy state. |
| CaoSlayer05-27-04, 01:02 PM | and the tricky use of maze... maze yourself for having time to buffer. |
| der_gogo05-27-04, 01:45 PM | I like Polymorph any Object. It is very flexible in its uses. |
| Tyron05-27-04, 01:58 PM | Maze is better then Mind Blank. Have not considered maze for my wizard. Going to read the spell description right away. Do you also know good 8 level spells that are not presented in the Players handbook. |

| spike8110105-27-04, 02:56 PM | Originally posted by Tyron If you had to choose between ''moment of prescience'' or ''mind blank'' which one would you take? It depends on the party, if you have a bard in your group you'll want to use moment of prescience, as you'll lose all benefit of the bard in your group with mind blank. It also depends on how good your will save is, if it's high, you don't really need mind blank. However if your group is constantly on the run from a BBEG wizard or sorcerer who continues to follow your group around and try and kill you, use mind blank on you and as many of your group as you can each day. |
| Krelios05-27-04, 03:10 PM | and the tricky use of maze... maze yourself for having time to buffer.Just don't do this in front of an enemy with a few ranks in Spellcraft or there'll be nasty surprises waiting when you pop back out... |
| DungeonMaster05-27-04, 04:03 PM | Wilt, wilt and die! *melting a la Idiana Jones Ark scene* Hmm... tough call. They're all extremely good. I think horrid wilting is among my favorites but clone is probably the most usefull. 15d8+ non-elemental damage targeted and hitting a fort save (no evasion) can be buckets of fun though probably not as globally powerful as polymorph any object, clone or maze. |
| HeavenShallBurn05-27-04, 04:40 PM | Nice Level 8 Spells: -Greater Shadow Evocation You can use it to mimic forcage and don't have to pay the cost. (but allow enemies a Will save, but still nice against i.e. fighters) -Maze as already mentioned -Mind Blank allready mentioned -Otto's irrestible dance does allow SR; doesn't allow a save, but you have to confirm a touch attack (with a familiar or the lvl2-spell-spectral-hand not very dangerous) This spell forces the touched enemy to dance for 1d4+1 round. -Polymorph any Object very flexible |
