| WombleHunter08-01-07, 12:34 AM | EDIT: Apologies, I found the relevant old threads here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=347044&highlight=emanation) and here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=812671&highlight=emanation). Does anyone have a list, or suggestions, for a good spell to pick when selecting the Permanent Emanation epic feat? FYI, the spell selected must be an emanation centred on you. I've taken a look myself, but can't seem to find one that really seems worthwhile. |
| kab08-01-07, 12:46 AM | antimagic field is always a solid choice. remember you can toggle the permanent emanation as a free action, so use antimagic whenever it is most beneficial to you |
| Nezkrul08-01-07, 09:55 AM | Greater Consumptive Field, hands down. |
| jaelis08-01-07, 10:11 AM | Greater Consumptive Field, hands down. I haven't played with it ever, but that spell seems like a game breaker. Just walk into town, autokill everyone, and get some ginormous bonuses to Str and CL? |
| Sajek08-01-07, 10:44 AM | I've heard of that spell. Does it, like, deal damage to everyone around you for a + to STR and CON? |
| jaelis08-01-07, 10:56 AM | IIRC, it kills (fort negates) anyone in the area whose current hp are 9 or less. For each creature killed, the caster gets a +2 bonus to Str and +1 bonus to CL. |
| gotbrain08-01-07, 11:44 AM | I haven't played with it ever, but that spell seems like a game breaker. Just walk into town, autokill everyone, and get some ginormous bonuses to Str and CL? Sure that's possible but how often could you do that before the town militia make a pin cushion out of you? Or worse, being hunted by a group of bounty hunter PC's to bring you in dead or alive for a reward. I mean you could go around vampiric touching every one in town too but no one says that spell is broke. |
| Witch08-01-07, 11:57 AM | Given that Permanent Emanation is Epic, a DM is expected to do some common sense rulings. My ruling is that any bonuses acquired by Greater Consumptive Field expires after a round per caster level, even though the spell keeps going. That way, you need to continually kill things in order to retain the power. |
