So here is an initial list: Trueseeing Freedom of Movement Death Ward Fly (or Levitate, Feather Fall, etc.) Waterbreathing Spell Resistance (this very strong obviously) What should be added to this list? (Please indicate which sourcebook, and focus on 3.5 material.) By the way, I am not suggesting that any character get multiples of these, just trying to get a good list to choose from. |

Fly (or Levitate, Feather Fall, etc.) Granted by being a the right race. pick your race well. Waterbreathing Granted by being a the right race. pick your race well. Spell Resistance (this very strong obviously) Granted by being a the right race. pick your race well. ----------------------------- That said, while these spells are all good "choices" for Permanancy, they are all clearly way too powerfull for most ways to do Permancy. Note here is my standard lecture for Permanancy questions: There are two reasons people want Permancy: 1) Role playing reasons (I am starting out as an escaped slave, I can't own any magic items - but I don't want the Vow of Poverty). 2) Greedy munchkin reasons (Hm. If I get a 20th level caster, Permanancy is almost as good as a magic item and a lot cheaper. Maybe I can convince my idiot DM to let me have stuff that way). My solution is as follows: If someone wants something made permanent that is not on the regular list use the following method: Step 1: Price a similar magic item (slotted is fine) Step 2: Reduce the price by 20% (100k becomes 80k) Step 3: Tell them that is the price a 20th level mage will charge them to make it permanent on them. Step 4: Subtract out spell casting costs, then divide by 5. That is the amount of XP it will cost them if they personally want to make the spell permanent on themselves. |
