As per the normal contingency, all spells must be cast on you when it goes off. The best uses I have found are: General combat: Fly, Greater Invisiblity and Ghostform. This combo makes you fully combat ready as a free action, and you can get a spell off in the same round (and a quickened spell with the feat) Improved spell flexibility: Mordenkainen's Lucubration 3x. This allows you to remember 3 first through fifth level spells of your choice as a free action. The nice thing about this is that you could theoretically cast one of the spell you just remembered in the same round. Defensive Buffing vs energy: Protection from Elements x3. Good if you can expect some kind of magical attack or breath weapon, but don't know what kind to expect. Combat Buffing: Stoneskin, Fire shield & Tenser's Transformation. This is a nice combo for the wizard who wants to give the enemy a little suprise mele attack. Antimagic Buffing: Break enchantment x 2, antimagic shell. This is a handy counter if you are concerned about getting taken out of combat (but not killed) by an enemy wizard or curse. Also good against being turned to stone. Any other good combos? |

Grapple THIS! Or the traditional Stoneskin/Mage Armor/Shield. Or how about Tenser's Transformation/True Seeing/Greater Heroism? Also a trio of Summon Monster 6 for some sudden backup. Since a contingency "casts" the spell, mastery of shaping could apply, thus allowing you to throw in damaging spells with the condition "enemy within 10 feet". |

Upon carefully reading the spell description, you find that only _most_ of the bonuses dont stack. :) Dont forget, you can also add the normal contingency, for another TT. Does anyone have the text for Elminster's Evasion? I would love to add it to the mix. Symbul's Spell Sequencer may have some potential, as well. Shapechange-Super Heroism-Tenser's Transformation sounds fun. |

Make your attackers paranoid thinking they have 2 mages to deal with rather than just 1. Mislead, Teleport, False Vision For when you just have to get out of there. Dimension Door, Repulsion, Wall of Force For when you cant or dont want to leave. Greater Heroism, Haste, Mislead For the Eldritch Knight pre-buffing. Mislead, Greater Blink, Summon Monster 6 For the arcane trickster who is determined to sneak attack. Flesh to Stone, Hold Monster, Chain Lightning For when you just dont know what their best save is. Greater Dispel, Dimensional Anchor, Enervation To stop that pesky spellcasting BBEG. Of course all of them should have an activation clause along the lines of "when I click my fingers" so you can activate them as a free action. |

| Psifon11-04-03, 09:13 PM | great ideas! Remember though, you can't target other people when casting a contingency. |
