Players: "...I don't suppose anyone has a flask of bleach?" The lich that my players are currently fighting in the campaign has formed his phylactery into that of a little girl, brought to life by magic. The players haven't figured it out it, but that'll cause one evil moral dilema. To kill the lich, gotta kill the girl... but the girl is innocent... :D I'm a meanie. |
| Xanthia02-24-05, 01:05 PM | I always thought that it was pretty pointless to become a lich. I'm considering it for my True Necromancer who is a Necropolitain, but the only real benefit (other than a slight bonus to WIS, CHA, and INT) is the ability to come back after you die. If I have a really powerful Necromancer who strikes fear into the hearts of everyone, I don't want to develop a reputation for dying. Being able to come back from the dead is only useful if you intend on dying in the first place. I don't know about you guys, but one of my goals for every character I make is NOT to die. In that respect, becoming a lich is like saying,"Wow, my Necromancer really sucks and he dies all of the time, I'll take a template to offset this". After spending all of that gold, your character is lacking the resources he could have used to be more powerful. Secondly, the phylactery (once created) is like giving your character an Achillie's Heel. If I wanted to be an undead BBEG, I'd just take the Necropolitain template instead (or Death Knight, if I was a Cleric). I'm undead, and with less oif a level adjustment. As a lich, at higher levels, I'd be spending most of my resources and time trying to stop search parties and high level divinations from locating my phylactery. An angry hafling with a club could kill me with one blow to my phylactery. To me, the paranoia just isn't worth the power that comes from being a lich. Liches as characters (or NPCs) just aren't as cool as they sound. Does anyone here see where I'm coming from? Demiliches, on the other hand......... |

Leomund's Secret Chest is one of the best safe holds you can have. 2.Shrink Item makes things small and portable. 3.Leave the stuff at home and simply teleport back when needed. 4.Put the stuff on your mount. Even better if your mount is something nice like say a dragon 5.Any type of extra dimensional space Bt |
