| calebhand02-02-08, 09:57 AM | So I just began my character (Duskblade/Warforged) down the Create Magic Arms and Armor route and I'm looking for the best Enchantments for his weapon and armor. I'd especially like to hear about what people think are the best ones that only cost money, not a +1 or +2 enhancement bonus. I've been toying around with "sacred" since our party seems to fight evil outsiders a lot. Crystals are also an option of course. Thanks, Caleb |
| Seeker9502-02-08, 10:16 AM | In my opinion, the best money-only ability is glamered. Especially if your DM makes social environment even a remotely viable part of the game. At only 2700gp, it is the best social defense you can buy, since it lets you keep whatever armor defense you bought / found, regardless of the context. The rest of the flat-price abilities are not worth it, in my opinion, because they are too much money for too limited a context. It is, in my opinion, far better to drop the money into another +X enhancement (raw number, not special ability) and let the benefit apply all the time. By the way, sacred is a +2 equivalent, not a flat price ability. |
| calebhand02-02-08, 10:37 AM | Yeah, I saw glammored and I was thinking that for my other campaign since I play a swashbuckler type character in that one. It sucks that I've restricted myself in that game to wearing studded leather just because plate mail wouldn't look right, so I was thinking of getting a suit of chain mail or something like that and glammoring it so I still look swashbuckler-like. Regarding the sacred bonus, I thought it was a +1 equivalent. I think that's what the new book (Magic Item Compendium) I got said. I could be wrong though. Caleb |
| MC_Templar02-02-08, 11:16 PM | I'm a big fan of the animated enchant for shields. I just like the idea of a shield floating around you, defending you seemingly of it's own accord.... I see fun RP ops as the fighter begins to think the shield is intellegent, like it's wielded by some kind of guardian angel, since it would consistantly be 'johnny on the spot' with the defense. Talking to his shield in combat. Plus stat wise, it's a great investment for the 2H weapon fighter or the dual wielder. |

I've used mithral chain shirt and dastana for the light armor only classes with a high dex. Regarding the sacred bonus, I thought it was a +1 equivalent. Caleb The sacred bonus is a +1, if you are looking for a flat cost item try the fiendslayer crystal also in the MIC. |
| Jaxgaret02-03-08, 12:05 AM | Magebane for weapons, Death Ward and Fortification for armor/shields. |
| MAdgryphon02-03-08, 03:35 AM | Yeah, the augmentation crystals a beautiful for filling in the cracks that abilities leave behind. However, I'm dying to have a rogue with a dozen or so fleshgrinding daggers... or someone with a higher BAB with the same. Serious potential there, I think. |
| SkipSandwich02-05-08, 06:01 PM | Mindarmor, from the XPH grants a +3 insight bonus on will saves vs. mind-affecting and compulsion effects for the price of +24,000gp. Landing is a nice enchantment, slow fall 60ft for only 4,000gp. |
| dawnbringer02-05-08, 06:06 PM | Since your a warforged, and your entire body is your armour, get the blueshine enhancement for just 1,600 gp i think it is. It makes said armour immune to acid damage and to rust effects. Seeing as your entire body is your armour, it effectively makes you immune to acid and you can never rust. |
| Vegepygmy02-05-08, 06:51 PM | Seeing as your entire body is your armour, it effectively makes you immune to acid and you can never rust.Nice try, but no. A warforged's composite plating is not its "entire body," and putting blueshine on it doesn't make the warforged itself "immune to acid" (or rust). |

Ranger with 2 Weapon Fighting feat chain and Quickdraw, wearing boots of speed. Round 1 Series of horrible stabs. Round 2 Try to block out the screams. |
| dawnbringer02-06-08, 07:09 AM | Nice try, but no. A warforged's composite plating is not its "entire body," and putting blueshine on it doesn't make the warforged itself "immune to acid" (or rust). It WOULD if you had the adamantine body feat. Adamantine BODY. |
| runestar02-06-08, 07:37 AM | It WOULD if you had the adamantine body feat. Adamantine BODY. Nice try as well. Adamantine body merely replaces your composite plating, it does not make your entire body out of adamantine (for example, it does not grant you the ability to overcome dr/adamantine). Plus stat wise, it's a great investment for the 2H weapon fighter or the dual wielder. To be honest, I cannot think of a reason not to get an animated shield. Even for a sword+board fighter, he could just animate his shield, and wield his main weapon 2-handed to benefit from more str-damage and power attack bonus. There is even the mithral buckler option for arcane spellcasters. It is just that good.:P |
