| Jandulh02-27-07, 01:24 PM | Ok, so last night in our gaming session we ran into a debacle. Our Warlock used an invocation (or whatever it is that warlocks use) to curse an otyoguh for -4 to all saves and attack rolls. I then made my dark companion stand next to it, giving it -2 ac and -2 saves. Our Dm said the saves -'s don't stack, AND that I could not curse it since it already had a -4 to saves (and my curse does -2 at the moment). So, in essence he is saying a hexblade's curse is useless if some else can also cast a curse with greater properties. He said the only thing that would stack would be the -2 the hexblade curse also gives to attack rolls, but since the hexblade curse adds that it entire -2 should stack. Any answers? |

| Silversheen19702-27-07, 01:36 PM | Penalties always stack. If your given a -3,200,123 to saves, then a -1 to all saves and attack rolls, you have a -3,200,124 to saves and a -1 to attack. |
| Lafing Cat02-27-07, 03:00 PM | Penalties always stack unless they're from the same source. If by some weird happenstance you could get -3million to saves, or -1 to saves and -1 to attacks with the same spell/ability/what have you, if you did both, they would have -3 million to saves and -1 to attacks. Not -3,000,001 to saves. But yeah, Hexblade's Curse is not the same source as a warlock invocation, (although the warlock invocation may be the same as Bestow Curse, if it says "As bestow curse") |
