| sineous blackspell05-22-07, 09:13 PM | no those would have to be staves |
| The_Ditto05-22-07, 09:16 PM | Is it possible for there to be Wands of Wish and Miracle? Wands are limited to 4th level .. however, a wondrous item isn't .... just calc it as a wondrous item ... :tiphat: Maybe just make it 2 or 3 charges ... (the whole 3 wishes thing ...) .. of course, now we're into existing item territory ... :) And what level would my Bard have to be to use them with his UMD skill? uh ... depends ... UMD can get pretty high pretty quick: level 10: 13 ranks +6 charisma = +19 +3 skill focus = +22 +2 magical aptitude = +24 +2 Heroism (2nd level bard spell = +26 so an average roll of 10 gives you a result of 36 ... mimicing a level 16 caster ... that gives you 8th level spells from a scroll no check needed ... 9th level from a scroll with a 2 or higher on d20 ... or use any wand ... Cheers ... :tiphat: To use a wand successfully, it's DC 20 ... so technically you need a +19 to guarantee ... a +10 would give you about a 50:50 chance ... (55:45 actually but don't ask ... we'll both get confused .. hehe) |
| Merestil Haye05-23-07, 03:24 AM | Is it possible for there to be Wands of Wish and Miracle? As others said, no because no spell above 4th level can be put into a wand. You could (theoretically) make it into a staff. Or the ring of three wishes is priced on the formula for a potion (I know it is not one, but that is how it has been priced). And what level would my Bard have to be to use them with his UMD skill? The DC to use spell trigger items (wands and staves) is 20. You should have a shot at it at 1st level. Not that anyone should let you have a Wishstaff at that level (or at all - to make requires more xp than I care to think about). For scrolls, the DC would be 37, plus you probably need to make a second check to emulate a 19 ability, which is DC 34. |
| runestar05-23-07, 05:17 AM | I suppose if you could find a way to access wish or miracle as a 4th lv spell...:P |
| groveborn05-23-07, 05:22 AM | Buy a ring of 3 wishes. No UMD required, and it's cheap (in comparison). Or get a scroll. :) Or dump the Bard and go wizard. Bards are great characters, but if you need wish, miracle, or any high powered spells to do your job, you're not the right class, or just not so great at using your current skills and abilities. |
| Merestil Haye05-23-07, 06:15 AM | I suppose if you could find a way to access wish or miracle as a 4th lv spell...:PNo, not really. The xp to create a Wishtaff is horrendous. Something on the order of 130,000xp, most of that accounted for by the xp component of Wish. That's a minimum character level of 65 to craft it regularly. Not because of item prereqs, but because it is impossible to have sufficient free xp to craft the item below that level. A theoretical 4th level Wish would cost just shy of 126,000xp; that would require a 63rd level character to craft it. (Shenanigans with artificer abilities etc notwithstanding). |
