The sorcerer/argent savant of the group just chose this spell, and several questions arose.

1- Where exactly stands the Hand?
a) near the sorcerer (but then, it could protect him from other opponents as well?)
b) near the target (but then other allies of the sorcerer could benefit from the cover offered by the Hand?)
c) in between the sorcerer and the opponent (but then what happens if an another creature passes between the Hand and the sorcerer or his opponent?)

2- What has the range to do with this spell? Is that the maximum distance a which the opponent can be? If so, what happens if this opponent leaves that range? Does it dispel the Hand?

3- If the caster check fails against the spell resistance of the current target, does the spell end or can it still be normally directed to a new target on the next round (or even tried again against the same target)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

1) The answer is C. The hand ignores other creatures. Other creatures can see the hand and should wait till they are no longer on the other side before making attacks. Your victim however can not move to the other side so he is screwed. If you are in a small corridor, then yes, other people can be blocked by the hand.

2) Range is the max distance of a valid target. If the target leaves the range, the hand remains - you may direct it to another target as a MEA.

3) If a creature with Spell Resistance uses a melee attack against you, they ignore the hand. The hand still exists, as it does not state it is destroyed. Therefore you could use an MEA to move it to another target.

Then, the sorcerer's archer ally or an ennemy sniper could stand right behind the Hand and use it as cover (and ignore the cover herself by being closer to it)?

And, if I understand well, a single Bigby's Interposing Hand (i.e. in a narrow corridor) could protect against many foes at the same time?

4- Can the sorcerer set the distance at which stands the Hand or does it always float at mid-distance between him and his opponent?
