Just wondering if there's any kind of spell (mabe not a bibgy's ) that would basically create a semi permenant 3rd arm that you can call at will.

bascially the arm is magical and lives under your skin, it can protrude anywhere at will in the shape of an arm leg etc and be used like a normal limb to do things

e.g.
3rd arm can move to your back/shoulder and draw arrow for you allwoing you to fire more quickly.
3rd arm can throw things , weild a wepon or small shield
3rd leg to give additonal balence
have an arm pop out from your shin and grab an opponets leg, tripping him

you get the idea basically an extra limb which you mentally control can appear anyway on the body and act and do anything a normal arm or leg can do. as its magical it dosent require being anchored to your skeleton for support, however becuase it can pop out anyway and grab anything there is a DC chance (DM controled) of casuing you to lose your balence in certain situations, unless of course you use the limb to purposly increase your support

There is also the spell in my sig; Ash's Phantom Limb. It does everything you ask for, almost exactly as you described it.

Ash's Phantom Limb
Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Sor/Wiz 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Effect: One ghostly arm and hand
Target: You
Duration: 10 min./level

This spell creates a Phantom Limb - a ghostly arm and hand - which is attached to one of your shoulders. You can control the Phantom Limb exactly as you can your own natural limbs. You can use it to do anything you could do with your normal hands, using your own ability scores, skill modifiers, base attack bonus, reach, etc.. When wielding a weapon with your Phantom Limb you gain one extra off-hand attack at a -10 penalty (-4 if you have the Multiweapon Fighting feat; see page 304 of the Monster Manual). Common uses of this spell include (but are not limited to) casting a spell while your hands are full, attacking with two weapons while using a shield, holding the charge on a touch attack spell, and reloading while wielding two repeating crossbows.

The Phantom Limb can be sundered as if it were a worn item. It has 3 hitpoints and an AC of 10 + its size modifier + your Dexterity modifier. The Phantom Limb is always one size category smaller than the caster.

This spell does not give you an extra bracer, glove, or ring slot. The Phantom Limb is never a natural weapon, even if your normal limbs are. However you can make unarmed attacks using your Phantom Limb.

Each time you cast this spell you gain an additional Phantom Limb, however this spell can not increase your total number of arms (both normal and Phantom Limbs) past twice the normal amount of arms for your race.

Material Component: A tiny gauntlet, a few strands of athach hair, or a bit of garillon fur.[/QUOTE]

My TK sorcereress pretty much uses unseen servant this way. Since about level 5, she keeps it up all waking hours, and uses move actions to "direct the spell".

Of course area spells destroy the "Arm" and the 15' move plus "close" range leash is annoying, but otherwise it fits the bill pretty darn well.

Being a sorceress, she also has mage hand (or even chain mage hand) for situations where she needs more precision than the rather dim servant can provide, and it is kinda "at will" because she normally has enough spell slots for such indulgences.

Well now, these are different effects. If you had an actual third arm, you could not do the "drawing more quickly" or "additional balance" easily, but you would have more slots to have hands free for shield/weapon weilding or tripping.

Again, with my TK sorceress, she'll give the unseen servant standard orders (like "put away anything I drop into its proper place" to do a "quicksheathe" kind of thing...I drop it, the servant sheathes it) and I've seen people use them to reload crossbows. Tenser's disks piled high with crap have given me cover in the past, kinda like having an animated (but directional) tower shield. Violent stuff like tripping or attacking with weapons though, tends to burn spell slots and is only "at will" in the sense that a sorcerer can usually do it "often enough" in a given day.
