| Talonos01-09-06, 03:26 PM | Do any of you know where I could find a warmage spell list that includes the spells from the spell compendium? |
| Seeker9501-09-06, 05:07 PM | You can't. There isn't one. (Yet) |
| dedicated01-09-06, 06:17 PM | You can't. There isn't one. (Yet) And there won't be one, they limited the number of spells the Warmage had acess to on purpose, and adding to it would make it more powerful. Not that it couldn't use a boost... |
| Seeker9501-09-06, 06:47 PM | And there won't be one,I'll lay odds that the list gets expanded a little bit as certain spells become "too obvious" to exclude, once the expanded list article comes out. I'm also laying odds that the article does not come out until March, but I will not object to it coming out in February instead. |
| Blaque01-09-06, 08:24 PM | According to the SC, warmages shouldn't get extra spells added to their list. Instead, its assume dyou'll use Advanced Learning to get others, as well as having the option of forgoing one of the spells you have on your list in exhcnage for an evocation sepll of equal level. So say, giving up lighting bolt for sound lance or something simaller. Stuff. |
| Talonos01-10-06, 07:28 AM | Really? I thought that even though the warmage's spell list was limited, that it would make sense to expand it. You see, the warmage's spell list has almost nothing but simple "Roll a bunch of d6s" kind of spells. I figured that any spell in the spell compendium that just dealt damage would be on the warmage's expanded spell list, and anything that did anything else wouldn't. The warmages lack of flexibility stems only from the fact that they can do nothing but deal damage, so I figured that they wouldn't gain any flexibility if they got new damage only spells. After all, the spells are meant to be balanced against each other, and a d6 is pretty much a d6. And Seeker? What's this list you're talking about? |
| WombleHunter01-10-06, 07:43 AM | as well as having the option of forgoing one of the spells you have on your list in exhcnage for an evocation sepll of equal level. Where is this from? |
| Seeker9501-10-06, 10:10 AM | And Seeker? What's this list you're talking about? The Spell Index (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/spells). The Spell Compendium only listed core classes when assigning spells to class lists. Jesse Decker indicated a companion web article will assign many of these spells to non-core classes as well. |
| Talonos01-11-06, 07:44 AM | Where did he indicate this? Not to be overly paranoid, but unless I know where you got that information, it sounds too good to be true. |
| CaoSlayer01-11-06, 08:16 AM | he got it from here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20051202a it is the spell compendium excerpt |
| Seeker9501-11-06, 09:47 AM | That article doesn't mention the pending web enhancement, but does provide guidance on expanding your own lists. And it does advise agaisnt expanding the war mage list: Expanding the warmage spell list isn't recommended. The warmage has a limited list of spells to balance its power and adding spells might tip that balance. If you'd like to add to the list anyway, try replacing access to spells rather than simply giving the warmage a wider range of spells to choose from. Of course, when a warmage gains the advanced learning class feature, the evocation spells in this book offer many options. |
