I start thinking about possible fantasy uses and then the problem of balance arrises... Just wondering if any one has any ideas about uses of binding and having a bound creat... |

The possibilities are endless. If you're asking "isn't an outsider servant useless?" then I'm not even going to respond any further than this. |
| maxell4514602-23-06, 02:14 PM | One idea ive been having relates to my psionic/wiz char ive been thinking for a story... By binding powerful elemantles from the planes, he traps them huge crystals... By some passive process the crystals bestow some psionic abilitys to the elemantle bound within.... By binding the elemantles to the central control of his strong hold he can tap into these powerful elemantles abilities and allows the strong hold to manage some extraiory feats.. Fire Elemantle ( extreme heat,propulsion...) Air (levitation, defense winds...) Earth (Burrowing,Exterior is made of crystal...) Water (Withstand great pressure from depts, good plumbing lol...) Another thing was thinking if they were bound to crystals giving them some psionic abiltiy, would it be to much of a stretch for them to construct simple astral constructs to allow for moveable bodys... Instead of them being locked things they could become advisors of sort to the char, being part of things older then most elves would make for some interesting insite... " As he sat in the char the room lit to a dull red glow , with the soft foot steps coming around the chair. "You know studying like that will make the fire in your soul go out" "Funny, I guess you would know a thing or too about fire huh." The contruct sat down in the chair next to him the elemantle had put alot of thought to its contruct, the features were smooth and shapped to a common elven maiden, the constructs hair willowed with the power of flame comeing from the fire elemantle, the body of the being controling this contruct was in the main hall, but the soul was here next to him in this elemantle contruct." Honestly I think of binding and the LG in me comes out... When I think of the end of my char, and when his strong hold is the only thing physically left of him I want the elemantles to say "Im looking forward to when he comes back" Item wise--- A positive plane cret/elemantle bound to a amulet,(positive = life) extended the user life? |

After all, an elemental isn't too big on trasure, so you probably won't have to pay them. - pick a creature whose alignment & behaviour fits the task, so the negotiation is easy. Binding a Balor and asking it to slaughter a village is like asking Cookie Monster to eat cookies. Getting an archon to heal the righteous or do a good deed is similarly ideal. - be as anonymous as possible when dealing with dangerous stuff. Use a false name, and a false face if possible. Especially with intelligent, plane hopping outsiders. You might find yourself in a little trouble down the road when that hezrou brings his friends to extract revenge & magic gear from you. - if you want to be a real prick, use the creature, hit it with dimensional anchor when it comes back to inform you that the task is done, and your party wastes it. It's not summoned but actually really there, so you may get XP from the beasty (though the CR likely is reduced because of the conditions). I suggest actually beating it unconcious, then interrogating it for info on who it knows and who might come looking for it. If it has scary friends (like an advaced hezrou with 30 levels in barbarian), The best thing to do is try and get Modify Memory cast on it to remove the attack, and send it home with its reward. - be generous with these things if you ever plan to see them again. It's like a waiter... if you're a generous tipper they'll remember you fondly, go the extra mile and won't spit in your soup. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, treat it like gold... you'll be thankful for it in the end. |
