A wizard in my campaign is interested in calling a fire elemental using lesser planar binding. The rules say you need a circle against law, chaos, good or evil to use the binding spell. But he wants to call an elemntal which is not affected by any of the circle spells. What would he use, dimensional anchor, or can he just use lesser planar binding by itself. Thanks for the help.

Both of your suggested spells would work to some degree. Force cage in combination with dimensional anchor would also be decent.

However, it might be worth discussing with your DM to have a new spell for elementals work in the same manner as magic circle against X.

Actually, I believe he could use any of the magic circle spells.

Read the spell descriptions. For magic circle vs evil, for example, when turned inward it binds nongood creatures. The other versions work similarly, and so all are effective versus neutral creatures.

Of course, he may want to use dimensional anchor and a calling diagram to make the trap extra secure.
