Can you cast Blade Barrier as a ringed wall of whirling blades with a radius of up to 5 ft. per two levels to catch creatures which are standing in a circle ??

Does the caster have to be in the middle of the Blade Barrier to cast it this way or can he be up to 100 ft. + 10 ft./level away (the range of the spell) from the edge of the ring ?? or center of the ring ??

For example:

x = Blade Barrier
o = creatures
C = caster
. = empty space

.............x x x x
.........o.............x
.......x.................x
.....o.....................x............ .............................C
.......o.................x
.........x.............x
.............x x x x

1. Yes. You can cast blade barrier in a ring form, as explicitly stated in the spell description. The presence or absence of creatures has no bearing on the matter.

2. You can place the center of the spell anywhere within the spell's range (the caster need not be at the center). However, note that the spell's effect cannot extend beyond its maximum range. If you placed the center at maximum range, you'd end up with effectively half a ring.
