Blade of Anguish: new magic weapon [Archive] - Wizards Community

This +3 Holy bastard sword was used to take vengeance upon the wicked. With a successful strike in battle the opponent has to make a will save or there mind will be filled with vision of those they have killed. Feeling their pain and sorrow and fall into a great despair. This inner torment causes them to lose focus on the battle.
This misplaced focus causes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls. A Will save DC 16 is needed to avoid these penalties. The opponent is affected for 7min. Once affected multiple failed save do not stack.

Prerequ: Crushing Despair

Looking for ideas for a better way to write it. I don't need a price, but if you feel like it please do.

Crushing despair is a 4th level spell, giving a -2 to hit. You have the right DC (16) and duration. I would just add this to the weapon, rather than try to turn it into an enhancement equivalent.

4 x 7 x 2000 = 56,000 + the cost of the weapon.
A +3 weapon is 18,000gp.

So, you have a nifty blade here that runs 74,000gp.

Beyound that how is the flavor text?

And in order to get the weapon a little cheaper, I would consider:
1. Drop to +1. It can be upgraded later.
2. Drop the Holy. It has its effect on targets regardless of alignment. Remorse and despair is not reserved for the Evil among us, but is triggered through the actions of the evil within us.

New price: 58,000 gp and one heckuvan'impact!
