If I get into the middle of a group of baddies, and set off a web with me in the middle (or get a mage to do it) and then cast my blade barrier spell using it as a radius from me. Would the blades shred the web? Or would the people be stuck and taking damage from the blades each round? Or would they be stuck, but only taking damage once, and if they don't move they dont take damage again. (This last one is due to something I read stating that it's possible that standing in a blade barrier may only cause the damage once. I personally think that if you stand in the middle of it (the radius effect) you are going to get hit each round.) If the blades do not shred the web (since the web spell only mentions flame swords cutting the web) then this seems like a pretty badass spell combo. |
| SoldierOfFortune18706-22-06, 03:59 PM | The description only references how easily a flaming sword can cut away the web, and how inherently flammable the strands are. There is no mention in the web spell description of the strands having an armor class, hardness, or hit points, but that they can be forced through (either by a creature that succeeded in the initial save or by one that frees itself from a Strength or Escape Artist check). Moving through a space occupied by a web should be sufficient to destroy or disrupt it to the point that the square is no longer hazardous enough to snare anyone. So if you were to stand in the midst of the web and activate your blade barrier, all creatures within the limits of the barrier would get their usual saving throws as if attempting to pass through the wall of spinning blades, and be deposited on the outside of the barrier on the side of their choice with a successful Reflex save. |

Entangled individuals have a -4 penalty to Dexterity, making it far more difficult to make the Reflex save to avoid damage. Falling down and making someone prone, while it could carry similar benefits, does not as the rules appear. |
