| Shield_Wolf10-28-07, 01:53 AM | Re-Post Could a warlock use the extra damage from a warlock's sceptre (p.63 Magic item compendium) and apply the bonus to the blast shape invocation eldritch glaive. I.e. level 9 lock expends 3 charges to add +2d6 to his 5d6 (9th level) blasts for a total of 7d6? Or dose the fact that he's holding the sceptre negate the ability to do this because his hand are full? I ask because he can manifest powers with the rod in his hand but the shape invocation doesn’t say his hands have to be empty. And in addition to this if the same warlock (regardless of using the sceptre) uses Maximise spell like ability would that apply to all strikes made with that manifestation of the eldritch glaive? Thanks for your help. |

And in addition to this if the same warlock (regardless of using the scepter) uses Maximize spell like ability would that apply to all strikes made with that manifestation of the eldritch glaive? Thanks for your help. I see no particular problem with it. The description of Eldritch Glaive states that you cannot add the damage from a held weapon to the damage from your Eldritch Blast – which seems to suggest that you can hold another weapon while your Eldritch Glaive is active. While the invocation causes your Eldritch Blast to take on “physical substance” and appear “similar to a glaive”, I do not believe that it forms an actual physical weapon that could be sundered, disarmed, short-hafted, etc. As far as using the extra damage from the scepter and the use of the Maximize Spell-like Ability feat goes; it applies to all the Eldritch Blast damage you do in that round, so it should apply to each hit with your Eldritch Glaive in that round. Note that the “to hit” bonus from the scepter only applies to ranged touch attacks, so it won’t help your Eldritch Glaive attacks. |
