I was thinking of upping the power of blight (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/spellsAtoB.html#blight). I was thinking of making it automatically kill a plant creature on a failed save rather than dealing its 1d6/level. I think the effect on a successful save is ok as is.

What are people's thoughts on this? I just thought that it was such a narrow spell that it could use a boost, particularly when druids have an area effect damage spell at level 4 and wizards have other save or dies at level 5.

last time I checked blight was a AOE spell and thats why It does a 1D6 per level. Insta kill effects generally a single creature spells that require a fortitude save and generally effect a specific part of a creature killing it instantly. Keeping that in mind plants have no anatomy so there really is nothing that could instantly kill a tree. If it had a heart I would say yes but it doesn't. So no thats not a good idea.

I think you're thinking of horrid wilting. Blight (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/spellsAtoB.html%23blight) (<--link) is a touch range spell (druid 4, wiz/sorc 5) that deals 1d6/level to a single plant creature, fort save for half, or autokills a non-creature plant.

It really should at the very least be D8s, but that's the 'balance' of core, for you...

If only my DM would let me trade it off my spell list in exchange for flame strike. Oh, well. :(

Keeping that in mind pants have no anatomy...

"I sneak attack his trousers!" :P

Seriously, though, blight is underpowered. 1d6/level, touch range, affects only plants? It ought to (1) be a ray with Close range and no save, (2) have Medium range and affect a 20'-radoius circle, (3) have Medium range and do d8's, or (4) stay touch and be save -or-die, with the obligatory 3d6+caster-level damage on a successful save.
