An affected plant creature takes 1d6 points of damage per level (maximum 15d6) and may attempt a Fortitude saving throw for half damage. A plant that isn’t a creature doesn’t receive a save and immediately withers and dies. This spell has no effect on the soil or surrounding plant life. This spell looks too weak for its level. One target, 1d6 per level, save for half (fort is good for plants also), and very specialized target (plant only). Yet it is druid 4, sor/wiz 5. What do you guys think? -Tony |

| tiercel11-03-05, 08:35 PM | Possibly could be changed to Drd 2, Sor/Wiz 3, and possibly change from Touch to Range: Close, and still be balanced assuming it's worth keeping at all. I mean -- only affects a single class of creature, requires a touch (not even a ranged touch), AND allows a save for half AND against that creature type's strong save. Find traps is one of the few spells that can compete in terms of "why in the world would anyone ever memorize this spell?!?" power. |
| Tony11111-03-05, 08:51 PM | How about keeping the level the same and changing as follows: Range: Medium Targets: One plant per level, no two of which can be more than 30 feet apart. Balanced? Too weak? Too strong? -Tony |
| smrtgmp11-03-05, 09:02 PM | I never understood why it was both a touch attack and allowed a save, given that all it does is damage. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find out that its part of my dread necromancer's spell list. |
| Kratilim Valqui11-04-05, 02:05 AM | The spell used to have a second function in 3.0 edition. You could choose to blight a 100 ft radius circle and cause the vegitation to die instantly, soil would still be fertile but it was a nice spell none the less... I can't understand why they didn't change the spell to something better. It for against plant creatures and requires a fort for half. But plant creatures best save is fort... Blight is realy the worst spell in the book for it's level... |
| cwslyclgh11-04-05, 03:46 AM | well the whole kills any non-monster plant can be a powerful effect... go around killing the trees that the elves have thier treehouses in... :::shrug::: |
