| Etiquette_Gnome03-02-04, 05:34 AM | Say we have a magical blindfold, making the wearer blind, taking up a goggle space and bestows blindsense. What kind range would be appropriate, as well as appropriate price? |
| Seeker9503-02-04, 09:14 AM | Instead of granting blindsense (a Feat, making pricing difficult), consider having the blindfold grant clairaudience, clairvoyance, and true seeing. |
| grindarsfolly03-02-04, 12:40 PM | i think he meant blindsight the spell, not blindfighting the feat, which would be less expensive than a magic item enchanted with 3 different spells and should be less than true sight which is a higher level spell i like the idea of the blindfold, but what about earmuffs for blidsight since it is auditory or gloves or boots for tremor sense or eyeglasses of true seeing |
| Seeker9503-02-04, 01:19 PM | Originally posted by grindarsfolly i think he meant blindsight the spell, not blindfighting the feat, I think he meant what he said --> blindsense, the Feat. It is found in the 3.5 Monster Manual. |
| Etiquette_Gnome03-02-04, 03:02 PM | I am unaware of a feat in the Monster Manual called Blindsense, and am unable to find such upon further research. When I speak of blindsense, I mean the lesser version of blindsight, an ability that is mentioned in both the DMG and MM. You say I should instead find out the price of a true seeing clairsentience blindfold instead. No thanks, because I feel like not investing the king's treasury into this item. Now, the I ask you this, how much would a magical item cost were it the following (seperate)? Blindfold of Blindsense: Robs you of normal vision, granting blindsense 90' (know which square everything is, concealment for blindness remaining). An alternate would be that the blindfold grants tremorsense 30'. |

That should get you started. |
| Etiquette_Gnome03-02-04, 08:24 PM | How the hell is the blindfold that cheap? Goggles of Darkvision cost 12,000gp. And darkvision is much worse than blindsight, which works as a short range true seeing. |
| Seeker9503-02-04, 08:32 PM | The goggles of darkvision do not rob you of your normal sight in the process of granting darkvision. They grant an additional vision ability. The blindfold of true darkness limits your total vision to 60'. If the lights are on, you still can't see any further. And taking the blindfold off (or putting it on) is a standard action. Basically, it has its own built in limits. |

That should get you started. Then i'm going to Pay those 50% more Cost and have it located onto a ring or some other item, and still keep my Normal sight. 9.000 x 1.5 = 13.500 Gp for BlindSight ... Cool. |
| Seeker9503-02-04, 10:34 PM | If you take it off the blindfold and place it on a ring, why are you increasing the price by 50%? Rings have no required body slot affinity. Nor are they an unslottd item. However, remember that part of the pricing is fact that the blindfold makes you blind. Unless the ring also makes you blind, take that into consideration too. |
| Etiquette_Gnome03-03-04, 07:40 AM | Oi, keeping people on track is harder than it looks... Blindfold of Blindsense: Robs you of normal vision, granting blindsense 90' (know which square everything is, concealment for blindness remaining). And blindsight 5'. Now imagine yourself on The Price Is Right, and Name That Price! |
| Seeker9503-03-04, 07:52 AM | Originally posted by Etiquette_Gnome Now imagine yourself on The Price Is Right, and Name That Price! 15,000gp, with activation and deactivation as standard actions. But I would drop the blindsense to 60' (or up the price by another 50%) |
| Etiquette_Gnome03-03-04, 12:54 PM | So an item that gives blindsense should be noticeably more expensive than one that gives blindsight? Granted, I think the Blindfold of True Night is underpriced... |
| Seeker9503-03-04, 02:00 PM | Originally posted by Etiquette_Gnome So an item that gives blindsense should be noticeably more expensive than one that gives blindsight? If it also grants blindsight in your immediate vicinity, as you are doing with this one. |
| Etiquette_Gnome03-03-04, 03:36 PM | I only put that there to prevent the individual from falling on his face from an upturned rock and survive in melee. What if I removed the 5' of blindsight and replaced it with Blindfight (the feat)? Also, what would be the price were the item to only give the 90' of blindsense? |

Since all you want is a arbitrary number, 2,000. Considering that you are always denied your dexterity modifier to AC against creatures you cannot see, and you will be always moving at the speed penalty imposed by blindess, this seems a reasonable reduction from 9k blindsight. If you want to have it emulate what normally takes a -feat- to accomplish, i.e. Blindfight, you remove a lot of these limitations to meele fighters,(lessened speed penalty, keeping Dex to AC, etc) and therefore I would place the item's price at 8k. |
