| Mirror-Image02-08-04, 06:24 PM | does the ghost touch weapon ability negates the miss chance that you have if you are under the effect of a blink spell ? i know that there is improved blink which has no miss chance but i am interessted if this "combo" with ghost touch + blink will work |
| Sweet Steph02-08-04, 07:44 PM | I'd have to say that this wouldn't work. A blinking creature is not incorporeal but spends half its time on the Ethereal Plane. The Ghost Touch property allows one to strike at both corporeal and incorporeal creatures, but it does not allow one to strike opponents in another plane. If you need any more evidence that Ghost Touch doesn't allow creatures in the Ethereal Plane to attack those in the Material Plane, consider the fact that ghosts with Ghost Touch weapons can only attack corporeal creatures when manifesting. |
| danferry02-08-04, 08:30 PM | If you had a blink on yourself, would it be possible to attack him on both planes? |
| tarkin02-09-04, 11:15 AM | There are two ways to try and do this: Method A) 1 Drop ghost touched weapon. 2. Cast Blink. 3. Pickup Ghost touched weapon. 4. Make attacks normally. Method A would work if you were just making yourself incorpeal. As you are ethereal and ghost touched does not affect ethereal creatures at all, it still fails. Method B) 1. Hold ghost touched weapon. 2. Cast Blink 3. Make attacks normally. Method B. clearly does not work - for two different reasons. I) Ghost touch affects incorporeal things, not ethereal things. There is a difference. II) Ghost touched has been ruled by the Sage to be a one way property, like force effects. When on the material plane, they affect incorporeal things. If the weapon is made incorporeal than it does NOT, affect corporeal things. |

The actual Sage ruling is that incorporeal is different from ethereal. The ghost touch weapon ability does not allow you to attack material creatures from the ethereal plane. | dantedarkstar02-09-04, 11:53 AM | incorporeal != ethereal Ghost Touch allows to strike incorporeal normally Blink makes you blink to ethereal plane Conclusion: Weapon being Ghost Touch does not help in any way against blinking opponent, nor when you are blinking |

I'm not aware of this ruling, but it directly contradicts the books. Copied from the 3.5 SRD A ghost touch weapon deals damage normally against incorporeal creatures, regardless of its bonus. (An incorporeal creature’s 50% chance to avoid damage does not apply to attacks with ghost touch weapons.) The weapon can be picked up and moved by an incorporeal creature at any time. A manifesting ghost can wield the weapon against corporeal foes. Essentially, a ghost touch weapon counts as either corporeal or incorporeal at any given time, whichever is more beneficial to the wielder. (emphasis mine) |

I know that the odds are astronomical, but is possible. :twitch: |
