I'm trying to create a Constitution based casting system for a Blood Magus type character, and am completely stuck.

What I need is a system that allows for powerful effects, but penalizes them by hp/Con damage rather than a normal casting limit. As a result, the class would probably eventually gain fast healing and maybe have a d8-d12 HD, but I don't know how to go about making such a system.

Obviously the more power you put into the magic, the more you get out, but what should this entail? How should I go about this?

You could put in feats that do the following:

1) Feat that lets you take a con penalty to let you cast a spell you know even though you have not prepared it/don't have a slot available. To cast a 3rd level spell, drains you 3 Con. You can do this as long as you are alive, taking no addtional time.

2) Another feat with a pre-req of the above, that lets you instead drain your hitpoints. Every 4 hitpoints you drain out, you can cast one level's worth of spells. So a 3rd level spell would cost you 12 hitpoints. Doing this increased the casting time, from standard action to full round action, or added one addtional full round action if it was already a full round action.

3) A third feat that reduces the cost from 4 hitpoints to 3 hitpoints and also removes the casting time increase.
