| Yusari05-14-07, 05:16 PM | So, recently, I've read the David Drake book Lord of the Isles, and I started thinking about the system of magic that is presented in his works, as well as D&D. While I've seen the sacrifical rules as presented in Book of Vile Darkness, they don't really seem at all similar to the way Drake portrays magic. I was curious if either a) there are any WotC rules for Blood Magic out there, or b) if anyone had seen/would like to share any homebrewed rules for such a type of magic? |

However, in terms of flavor, I would have to say I am looking for something a bit more... dark. The Blood Magus is primarily based around using his own blood and flesh to power his magic. I'm looking more for a mechanic that allows an Arcane spell caster to sacrifice other beings to empower his spell casting through rituals or some such. Similar to Death Knell, I suppose, except a) Arcane, and b) less limited. Primarily it would be devoted to increasing caster level, not to temporary hit points and strength bonuses. Thanks for pointing that out to me though. |
