| Gyges05-09-05, 03:24 PM | In pg 26 of Complete Arcane, it is described a powerful special quality called Blood Component that means two things: first, the wizard substitute any materail component dealing to himself 1 hp during the casting of the spell. Thus, it enhances the spell increasing the caster level by one. But the question is: increasing the CL by +1 only for purposes of overcoming DR and for DC from dispelling? Or like Power Spell (from Archmage prestige class), it counts like one real level more when casting the spell in terms of damage, duration, targets, etc?? |
| StilenX05-09-05, 03:38 PM | I'd say the previous - the last one seems too powerful. |
| stamhaven05-09-05, 04:22 PM | I'd say the latter since it's a 4/5 caster level class and has effectively a whole level penalty to get in (been killed and returned to life will cost at least a level without True Res. which shouldn't be an option for medium to low level characters). On top of the being killed requirement, it needs both great fortitude and toughness to get in so you really need to get some decent benefits to offset all of those requirements. |
| Leobardis05-09-05, 08:30 PM | The second. Increases to a spells effective caster level increase all effects related to said caster level, duration, range, damage, number/size of targets, and SR penetration. To not do this it would have to specifically say so in the discription of the effect. |
| DM Zoc05-09-05, 08:43 PM | The latter, and it's still a serious nerf from the 3.0 version. |
